TILE BENCH |
The Marlinton Elementary School Tile Bench Project The Pocahontas Arts Council Inc. has awarded a grant to Cynthia Gurreri to hold classes in the Parks & Recreation room. The children from the classes made the tiles that cover the outside of the bench. The grant also covered supplies and the firing of the tiles at our new location at the Little Yellow House. in Dunmore. The concept for the Tile Bench Project came fron Lauren Bennett of Parks & Recreation. Her idea is based on a bench that she saw in front of Tamarack outside of Beckley WV. Ceramic tiles are prefect for school projects because so many students can be involved in the creative process. Even the smallest students can make designs in the preformed tiles. Volunteers from PCAC completed the bench. Stop by and try out the newest bench in town. Extra tiles are on disply at the McClintic Library in Marlinton. |
